Fall back Friends!

Yesterday marked the end of Daylight Savings Time for the year. We all woke up on Sunday AM and magically it was an hour earlier!  In my house we still have a few analog clocks that needed a human to help them “fall back”.  So, as I was winding the dial back on my desk clock this am, I was suddenly struck by how arbitrary time is. Like we just all make it up. It was 9am and now it is magically 8am.

And I got to thinking about all the other things we just make up and accept as reality.  Particularly the limiting beliefs about ourselves hold us back from living the lives we want to live.

And if we don’t question these beliefs, they become our reality.

Many of us hold onto limiting beliefs such as:

“I’m not worthy of love.”

“I’m not good with money.”

“I’m too old to start over.”

“I’m not smart enough, thin enough, educated enough…just not enough”.

How do you break free from these limiting beliefs?

Ask yourself a simple question…. Is it True?

Is what I believe about myself really true or is it something I learned in my childhood and never questioned?

The “Is it True?” Question momentarily wakes us up and shakes us out of our subconscious programming. When you start to ask, “Is it True?” You will often find instances and examples in your life that contradict these beliefs.

Perhaps there were times when you have been smart financially or when you have felt loved.

But you have ignored this reality in favor of the reality based on your limiting beliefs. We hold tight to our stories. Our subconscious programming is that powerful.

To move forward in our lives must take the time to question the beliefs that may be holding us back.

So, what do you believe to be true about you? About your capabilities and talents? About the possibilities and probabilities of your life?

And just like turning the clocks back, you get to decide who you want to be. We can all agree it’s 8am instead of 9am and you can decide what you believe to be true about you.

Finally, my fellow Portlanders, tonight the sun sets at 4:52 pm so we will have many dark hours to contemplate the reality of time and what we believe to be true!

Only 48 days until the winter solstice friends! We can do this!
